Bee removal (including hive)

Our Exterminator professionals at Call My Guy Pest Control, will assess your bee situation, and determine the best method of removal.  If you have a bee problem please do not attempt to treat the problem yourself as it can result in injury, instead call us anytime for a FREE Inspection!

We can have the Bee Hive removed and re-established in a safe environment-if the hive is in accessible location.  If the hive is in a wall or attic or posing an immediate threat, we may have to extinguish the Bees, remove the hive, & sanitize the location, while preventing any future re-entry.

How to Recognize a Beehive

Beehives will vary according to the species that built it. Some are quite well hidden or hard to recognize by an untrained eye.  Here are some examples of what to look for:

  • Carpenter beehive: Carpenter bees nest into the wood, so they add other types of problems to the mix (weakening wooden structures of the home). They drill holes into the wood that are about 2 inches wide, where the female bee lays her eggs. Carpenter bees are larger and fuzzier than wasps but are not so aggressive as the latter.
  • Honey bee hive: Honey bees will nest in trees, often in a hollow of a tree. They build the hexagon-shaped cells with wax secreted from their abdomen. As mentioned before, you will likely not find honey bee hives hanging out on tree branches, but enclosed in a space (a tree hollow or even a tight space in your home’s structure).
  • Ground bees hive: Some bees will build their nest underground, and it will look like a big anthill. Ground bees don’t sting, but they can be a nuisance.
  • Bumblebee hive: Bumblebees are quite large, fuzzy and have bright yellow stripes on their abdomen. Bumblebees won’t be as likely to sting as honey bees, but they will attack if provoked, and they are able to sting multiple times. They nest at ground level, often using empty rodent nests for their hive.

Flea Infestations

Fleas are a nuisance. They bite you and your pets and have the potential to carry disease, that can make you and your family ill. Fleas are one of the pests partly responsible for the spread of the Bubonic plague.  Regardless of the myth that only pet owners get fleas, you do not need to have a pet for fleas to invade your home, yard, or business.

At Call My Guy Pest Control we can help you control the flea population on your property and prevent them from taking over your property.  We use effective and safe flea treatments, and can provide you with customized pest control options.

Identifying if You Have Fleas

Fleas are tiny, and only get to be about 3mm long, or about 1/8 of an inch. They are a brown or reddish color, are covered with hair, and have six legs.  While many people think that fleas can fly, they are actually wingless creatures that get around by hopping.

They are capable of jumping up to 13 inches. Generally speaking, fleas need a host to live, and they can only last a few days without one.  During the winter months, fleas can remain dormant in their cocoons for about three months.

Due to their small size and their fast reproduction cycles, it makes dealing with fleas a major pain, and can be quite a challenge to eliminate. Their numbers can quickly escalate, and you may think you've rid your home of them only to find a new batch of fleas has hatched, starting the cycle over again.

Signs that you have a flea infestation include:

  • If you own a pet, and they are scratching a lot more than usual
  • Your pet is restless and won’t sit still or appears uncomfortable
  • You see fleas on your pet
  • You are experiencing flea bites
  • You see fleas in your soft furnishings or carpets

It is especially important to protect your property from fleas if you have newborn kittens or puppies in the home. In addition to the possibility of disease, very young animals are at risk of anemia due to their small size, which can prove fatal if left unchecked.

If you notice a flea infestation in your home, you should:

  • Wash all of your clothes, blankets, sheets, and other fabrics
  • Clean your carpets and soft furnishings to the best of your ability
  • Treat any pets with your vet’s recommended flea treatment
  • Call My Guy Pest Control specialist

Fleas are known to carry disease and can be particularly dangerous to young children and those with a weakened immune system.  We will  eliminate the infestation and ensure they do not return.
